From staff reports

A Lacombe man was charged with negligent homicide after he struck and killed a motorcyclist Saturday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said.
James Patterson, 31, of 25532 W. Spruce St., was charged Saturday night in the death of Dwayne Ransom, 26, of 62065 Wood St., Lacombe.
Ransom was riding his motorcycle southbound on North Pontchartrain Drive in Lacombe about 1 p.m. when he collided with a car driven by Patterson, who was turning left onto West Spruce, sheriff's spokeswoman Tiffany Tate said.
Ransom, who was wearing a helmet, suffered massive facial and head injuries, along with numerous extremity fractures, said coroner's investigator Mark Lombard, who released Ransom's identity.
Ransom was transported to the Louisiana Heart Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In addition to being charged with negligent homicide, Patterson was issued citations for no driver's license and an improper left turn. He was booked at the parish jail.
