Madisonville Wooden Boat Show

Written by MAC Webmaster

Good Afternoon Everybody,

baby_balloon_1What a beautiful weekend we had at the boat show, sorry ya'll had other things going on!! You really missed a great and fun time, especially on Sunday!! The event staff placed our booth in the best location on the street, not even two hundred feet off Highway 22. Hopefully we will have that same location next year, this will be our event to do every year now. I want to say Thank You to Wayne, Jessica and Jessica daughter Alyssa for all their help on Saturday. I owe a big Thank You to the National President of MAC, Warren Broussard and his wife Mary for their assistance and time on Sunday. I also need to say Thank You to Jessica and Alyssa for their help on Sunday. The biggest Thank You I have got to give is to the New Orleans Chapter President Jeff Haydel and his wife Marlene. They showed up Sunday morning with t-shirts, helmet stickers, hand fans and a helium tank and balloons. We worked our tails off blowing up these balloons and handling them out to the kids, we were the only ones giving them out and all you could see was yellow bobbing in the air either way you looked. Jeff figured somewhere in the neigborhood of three hundred balloons were given out before we ran out of helium. Poor Alyssa, she was so tired by the end of the day, I told her that any kid that went by her without a balloon costed her a dollar, she was hustling!! Jeff and I made it up to her, we got her face painted and an ice cream cone later. Mary tried her best to keep us informed of that so called Saints game, glad I didn't waste my money to go see it or my time by sitting in front of the tv!! Warren and Marlene was busy stopping anybody and everybody coming down the street and talking to them and handing out stickers, fans, signs, balloons while Jeff, Jessica and myself blew up the balloons!! I never knew how much work that takes just to blow them up, tie them off and attach a string to them, our fingers at least Jessica and mine are still sore today!! We met so many people, heard so many stories, some good, some funny and some bad about family members or friends on their bikes and seen many members of MAC from different chapters. It was great for me because the Coast Guard Auxiliary was right next to us and I got to talk the talk to other Coasties for a while. The chapter did pick up a new member and I forgot to write his name down and email address before coming to work this morning. Sunday alone we made over $110.00, $20.00 for hats, Jeff made around $30.00 for t-shirt sales. I can't tell you what we made Saturday but I think it was about $80.00 with $15.00 for a new membership so overall it was a very successful weekend. I did use some of the money as petty cash for this event!!

Jeff, if you ever need anything from this chapter just let me know and it'll happen!! Thank You very much!!!

Alright, we will be setting up at the Silver Slipper Casino this coming Thursday the 28th for the last time this year!! They are stopping bike night there and moving it to The pier side in Diamondhead. That's just too far to drive on a work night for a few hours. We need to find other places and events!!

We have an event on Nov. 6th at the Harley Shop in Slidell from 12 to 4, I need volunteers for this event!! I can set it up but won't be able to work it. I need to know from somebody that they will be able to work this event and tear it all down and take it home with them for the night.

Jandy Imports of Slidell has requested us to be at their annual blow out on the 13th of November from 11 to 4. Most of us know Jan and Andy and this would be a good event to go too!! They had over 800 hundred bikes there last year and that's not counting the vehicles!! Let me know who is interested in working this event.

I want to have an Officer Meeting at my house sometime next week. Tuesday or Wednesday are the days I'm looking at, between 6:30 and 7:30. Jerry, Caj, Danny and Kim, let me know what you think.

Well, I think I talked long enough. I'll be sending out more emails with some idea's in the next day or so. Everybody be careful out there and God Bless.
