This is the last week of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.  All of us at MAC urge drivers and motorcyclists alike to share the road and be alert, and we’re reminding motorcyclists to make themselves visible, to use DOT-compliant motorcycle helmets, and to always ride sober.

Safe riding practices and cooperation from ALL road users will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our highways. But it’s especially important for car and truck drivers to understand the safety challenges faced by us motorcyclists.  By raising motorists’ awareness, both drivers and riders will be safer sharing the road.

As Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month comes to a close, let me state that while MAC urges motorists to Please Watch for Motorcycles, we are by no means ignoring OUR obligation to watch out for motorists!  So when you’re riding, keep your head on a swivel, always ask yourself “…what if…”, and continually look for your “out.”

And please consider joining the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign so we can continue printing bumper stickers and yard signs, buying billboard space, and purchasing air time on radio and television.  This is how we get the word out to Please Watch for Motorcycles, and we need YOUR help to do it.
