Fear. Am I right?
Sure, I’ll admit it: I’m a little fearful every time I saddle up. I’m afraid I might get in an accident. Or get caught in the rain. Or worse yet – drop my bike, and someone sees me do it.
If misery loves company, it’s good to know that there are plenty of us who are fearful when we ride. But we gird our loins (which is very uncomfortable, believe me) and hit the road, anyway.
Maybe that’s even a good thing – being fearful. Fear makes me pay attention to what’s going on around my motorcycle. Fear makes me look for my “out” in every traffic situation. Fear makes me scan down the road. Fear makes me put on protective gear.
In a nutshell, fear makes me do everything I can to take care of myself and watch out for other people who, let’s face it, are out to get me.
Here’s an excellent video from the same guy from last week with five fears you shouldn’t worry about. (Me…I’m gonna keep worrying.)
