Here at the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign, we received this heartbreaking story.  The writer has agreed to allow us to share it with you.

“On March 9, 2002,  I lost my dad at the age of 59, while [he was] riding a motorcycle.  He was hit from behind, throwing him from the bike and into oncoming traffic.
“Fast forward to May 8, 2015.  My son, age 26, was at home working on our Sea-doo, getting it ready for summer time.  He needed a bolt, so he left our house to go to the hardware store, which is a few miles from our house.  He wasn’t a mile down the road when someone turned in front of him, and although he tried to avoid it, he couldn’t.  That quickly our lives changed forever.
“It’s easy to say “I didn’t see him” or “I thought I could make it”.  We all need to look a second time, or even a third time, before we make that turn. It could be the difference between life and death for a rider and a lifetime of pain for their family.”
All of us at MAC share the writer’s sorrow and pray that the Father of peace sends relief to all who mourn the loss of loved ones through the carelessness of others.
