I want to share with you another heartbreaking story of how the negligence of a motorist took one life and forever changed another. Printed with permission of the writer.
Subject: Story of Garrett for MAC
My best friend was taken on Nov 9, 2023, at the young age of 23. He had just left his house and was roughly 2 intersections from his home when a truck tried changing lanes, didn’t know Garrett was there, and clipped his bike. He was taken to the hospital where he later died in surgery. He only had his bike for 8 months.
Knowing my best friend died because of someone else’s negligence is so hard to cope with. Not only have I lost a best friend, but his parents lost a son, his sister lost a brother, and so many more lost their friend. My life will never be the same but his legacy will live on.
Here at MAC, our collective heart goes out to this young person, as well as to all of those left behind to grieve after a loved one has been taken from our midst.
We pledge to continue to do our part to prompt motorists to actively watch for motorcycles so that one day soon, letters like the one above become a thing of the past.
