MAC is back!
How good it is to get out into the community, unrestricted and unhampered by social distancing. How pleasant it is to see people’s entire faces again…not just their eyes.
Such were the niceties all of us at the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign experienced on Saturday, May 8, as we reconnected with the motorcycling community for the first of four events during Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month, as proclaimed by Governor John Bel Edwards.
Saturday dawned bright and beautiful in Monroe, Louisiana, where Warhawk Harley-Davidson was holding their COVID-postponed Grand Re-Opening. With the permission of Warhawk owner, Dale Condra, MAC set up a tent and handed out our now-famous yellow-and-black “Please Watch for Motorcycles” yard signs to the scores of motorcyclists who rode in for the event.
MAC is having three more Yard Sign Days, and they’ll all be much closer to motorcyclists in southeast Louisiana. Here’s where you can pick up a free MAC yard sign (or two):
Saturday, May 15, 10-2 – Hammond Harley-Davidson, 1530 SW Railroad Ave
Saturday, May 22, 10-2 – Jandy Imports, 3199 Terrance Ave, Slidell
Saturday, May 29, 10-2 – Friendly Honda/Yamaha, 10939 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge
Please come to the Yard Sign Day nearest you and pick up your free yard sign(s). Displaying one outside your home or business will prompt drivers to actively watch for motorcycles. Don’t underestimate YOUR role in helping to reduce the number of crashes due to distracted or inattentive drivers.
See you soon, and be safe out there.
